Romani!

In Romani! we take you on an adventurous musical journey, inspired by the centuries-old routes of the Romani people. The music begins in India, where the roots of Roma culture lie, and travels through the Middle East to Europe. Along the way, this musical stream has left deep traces in the music of the Balkans and Europe — from Romanian folk songs to Gypsy jazz.

In Romani!, Pynarello joins forces with three outstanding musicians to reveal the richness of these traditions.

Romanian cimbalom and accordion virtuoso Vasile Nedea, rooted in Roma culture, built an impressive career in the Netherlands after studying at the Conservatory of Bucharest. Here, he transformed from street musician into a sought-after soloist and composer, fusing Roma music with Western classical styles.

Niti Ranjan Biswas, the tabla player who brings refined rhythms to life, began his musical journey in Bangladesh, where he became a beloved accompanist at a young age. Through intensive study with great masters in India, his path eventually led him to Europe, where he established himself as a renowned performer and an inspiring teacher at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

Dutch gypsy guitarist Faifie Reinhardt, embodying the swing and soul of Gypsy jazz, comes from the Sinti community. As both rhythm and solo guitarist in Jimmy Rosenberg’s trio, he proudly carries the name of the legendary Django Reinhardt—whose music has conquered hearts worldwide—and honors him with masterful artistry.

Alongside music with traditional Roma influences, we also perform classical works by Telemann. This composer was captivated by the fiery spirit of Roma music, and in Romani! his pieces gain a new dimension when combined with the vibrant, exhilarating sounds of traditional music.
