Pynarello
Romani!
Travel along with us through Indian rhythms, fiery Balkan melodies, swinging gypsy jazz, and compelling Baroque
With Romani!, Pynarello takes you on an adventurous and high-energy musical journey inspired by the ancient routes of the Romani people. The journey begins in India, where the roots of Roma culture lie, and travels through the Middle East to Europe. Wherever the Roma went, they influenced and were influenced by the local people. Alongside traditional Roma music, Pynarello performs classical works by Telemann, but with a distinct Roma glow. Deeply impressed by the fiery improvisations he heard Romani musicians play in cafés, the German Baroque composer often incorporated elements of that music into his own compositions.
Pynarello brings all this richness to life together with three outstanding soloists. Romanian cimbalom and accordion virtuoso Vasile Nedea, who comes from the Roma tradition, built an impressive career in the Netherlands after studying at the conservatoire in Bucharest. Here, he transformed from a street musician into a much sought-after soloist and composer, connecting Romani music with Western classical styles. On the tabla, the Indian percussion instrument, Niti Ranjan Biswas brings refined rhythms to life with dazzling virtuosity. He began his musical journey in Bangladesh, where he became a popular musician at a young age. After intensive studies with master musicians in India, he went on to establish himself in Europe as a renowned performer. Dutch guitarist Faifie Reinhardt embodies the swing and soul of gypsy jazz. As a guitarist and soloist in Jimmy Rosenberg’s trio, he proudly carries the family name of the legendary Django Reinhardt, whose music has won hearts around the world and to whom he pays masterful tribute.
Romani! was also performed in 2025 at several Dutch venues and festivals. Its great success with audiences is the reason we will take this programme on tour across the Netherlands again in 2027.
