Pynarello & Joost Oomen
A moving alternative Passion with Joost Oomen about an imaginary conversation with a euthanasia patient.
Although Joost is known for his exceptionally energetic presentations full of humor and creativity, in this concert he reveals a more vulnerable side of himself, inspired by his father who works as an euthanasia physician. His poetry is interwoven with the timeless music of Robert Schumann. With a new arrangement for strings and winds, we add a fresh tonal color to Schumann’s Gesänge der Frühe, written towards the end of his life, and his Kinderszenen, an ode to the innocence and purity of childhood.
Schumann’s music mirrors his inner conflict through the characters Eusebius and Florestan: the dreamy, gentle side versus the fiery, impulsive one. These figures also reflect the dual nature of conversations about euthanasia: joyful memories intertwined with the melancholy of death. In De Passie met Joost Oomen, words and music amplify this tension, where joy and melancholy merge as the essence of life. De Passie met Joost Oomen is a performance that moves you and makes you reflect.
