Mahler Marathon – all ten of Mahler’s symphonies in one hour

20/12/2025

All ten symphonies by composer Gustav Mahler in sixty minutes? Impossible, you might think – but we crossed that word out of our dictionary a long time ago.

Mahler created monumental masterpieces that were meant to encompass everything: all the joy, sorrow and chaos of the entire world, captured in ten symphonies. Together, they add up to around fifteen hours of music. That called for an enormous number of notes and orchestras sometimes exceeding a hundred musicians. Pynarello is convinced that Mahler’s music is so powerful that it can make just as great an impact with a much smaller ensemble and far fewer notes.

On 24 January, our Mahler Marathon kicks off in Arnhem. We’ll tour the Netherlands for just over a week, crossing the finish line in Zwolle on 1 February. Curious? Click below to see our tour dates.
